Homework: Reading and Math Log
Homework: Friday, September 12th
Dear Parents,
The first week of school we will talk about our reading lives. I shared a book that was very special to me. Ask your child to recall what the book was about. What special memories did I have about it?
I called my special book a Forever Book, because I know that even though
it might not look like much to someone else, I will always remember having it
read to me by my mom and memorizing the book, chanting the character’s long name
to myself again and again.
We found out that lots of us have Forever Books that make us think of special memories! Some books make us think of snuggling up with mom or dad for a bedtime story. Others remind us of a trip we took with them or of a very special place in our house that we like to read. Most of the time, a Forever Book is a book we have read time and
time again.
For homework , each child needs to think about what book is their Forever Book. There might be many favorites,
but they need to only choose one that evokes those special reading memories. If your child does not have a special book at home, I will help him/her find one in our classroom library.
Please send in the book Friday, September 13th. We will take very good care of the books, and they’ll be sent home in about 2-3 weeks. All books must be labeled with the child’s name.
